Why Do Small Skin Growths Appear on the Face, Neck, and Body?

Many clients come to my office concerned about small skin growths that seem to have appeared gradually over the years. They may be found around the neck, face, eyelids,

or elsewhere on the body.
Some people have only one or two, while others notice numerous small growths developing over time.
Why Do They Develop?
There isn't one single reason.
Certain common benign skin growths are associated with friction, which helps explain why they frequently occur in areas where skin rubs against skin, jewelry, or clothing. Age, genetics, and other individual factors can also play a role.
The important thing to remember is that not every bump or growth on the skin is the same. Something that looks like a common cosmetic skin growth to a client may be something entirely different.
For that reason, an area should be evaluated before deciding whether cosmetic treatment is appropriate.
Can Cosmetic Skin Growths Be Treated?
At Los Angeles Skin Care, I provide professional cosmetic treatments designed to improve the appearance of certain common unwanted skin growths and skin irregularities.
At the beginning of the appointment, I examine the area to determine whether it is appropriate for the cosmetic treatment I provide. If something appears outside the scope of cosmetic skincare treatment, I do not treat it and may recommend that the client have it evaluated by a medical professional.
What About Growths Around the Eyes?
Small growths around the eyelids and eye area are one reason people frequently seek treatment—the location can make even a very small growth quite noticeable.
Because this is a delicate area, careful evaluation is especially important before treatment.
Experience Matters
After more than 35 years working professionally with skin, I've learned that no two clients—or skin concerns—are exactly alike.
My approach is therefore not simply to treat everything that looks like a small growth. The priority is determining whether the particular concern is appropriate for the cosmetic service I provide.
Los Angeles Skin Care serves clients from Mar Vista, Marina del Rey, Venice, Culver City, and surrounding West Los Angeles communities.
If you have a small cosmetic skin growth that has bothered you for months or even years, you are welcome to contact us with questions or book an appointment online. https://www.losangeles-skincare.com/book-online
